These state exchanges are an integral part of the national health care law, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. In this exchange the nearly 800,000 uninsured Missourians will be able to shop among private companies, make their pick and get coverage. Nationally, about 30 million uninsured citizens will be looking to these competitive supermarkets. Tax credits will be available to assist those who can’t meet the cost of the private premiums. Separate exchanges must be established to serve our small businesses.
In a recent analysis done by the Associated Press, Missouri was among the states with a status described as “outlook unclear.” In other words, Missouri has failed, so far, to establish the exchange or to be on the way to doing so.
